Biotrade Canada Ltd. was a British Columbia-based company that specialized in the marketing and distribution of natural health products, most notably the U-Dream line of herbal sleep aids. In late 2019, the company faced a major regulatory crisis when Health Canada and the FDA discovered that its products contained an undeclared substance similar to the prescription drug zopiclone, leading to a nationwide recall and the suspension of its product licenses. This discovery triggered a class-action lawsuit (Ruckman v. Biotrade Canada Ltd.), which resulted in a court-approved settlement in 2024.
