Biovall Heparin Science

Biovall Heparin Science is a joint venture between the Spanish agri-food group Vall Companys and the pharmaceutical company Bioiberica, established in 2023. The company specializes in the sustainable production of crude heparin from porcine intestinal mucosa, employing a circular economy model by repurposing co-products from the pork industry. Based in Mercazaragoza, Spain, the facility is designed to process 25,000 tons of mucosa annually, aiming to meet the total national demand for heparin in Spain. This partnership leverages Vall Companys' extensive pork production network and Bioiberica's global leadership in heparin API manufacturing to ensure high standards of traceability, quality, and safety.
