BioWhitaker

BioWhittaker was a U.S.-based life science company and brand focused on cell culture media, primary cells, endotoxin detection products, and related research and quality-control reagents used by biotechnology and pharmaceutical customers. The business was originally based in Walkersville, Maryland and became known as a supplier of cell culture and diagnostic testing products rather than a therapeutic drug developer. BioWhittaker was acquired by Cambrex in 1997, and Cambrex later sold its bioproducts and biopharma businesses to Lonza in 2007. Today, BioWhittaker persists primarily as a legacy product and trademark brand within Lonza Bioscience, especially for certain cell culture media and reagent lines. It is therefore healthcare-related, but not an active standalone biotech or pharma operating company.
