Overview

BiPar Sciences was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company pioneering the development of novel oncology therapies designed to target DNA repair pathways. The company's lead product candidate, iniparib (BSI-201), was a first-in-class small molecule initially identified as a PARP inhibitor for the treatment of difficult-to-treat cancers such as triple-negative breast cancer. In 2009, the company was acquired by Sanofi-Aventis for an upfront payment of $500 million, representing a significant exit in the oncology space. Although iniparib later failed to meet primary endpoints in Phase 3 clinical trials, BiPar's work was instrumental in catalyzing industry-wide interest in PARP inhibition and DNA damage response mechanisms.
