BIRAC-BIG

Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) is a not-for-profit Public Sector Enterprise established by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. It functions as an interface agency to strengthen and empower the emerging biotech enterprise in India through strategic funding and mentorship. The Biotechnology Ignition Grant (BIG) is BIRAC's flagship scheme, providing significant early-stage seed funding to entrepreneurs and startups to establish proof-of-concept for innovative ideas. Beyond financial support, BIRAC provides access to a nationwide network of bio-incubators, intellectual property management services, and technology transfer assistance. The organization plays a critical role in bridging the gap between academic research and industrial commercialization. BIRAC's initiatives cover diverse sectors including healthcare, agriculture, and industrial biotechnology, fostering a robust innovation ecosystem in India.
