Company intelligence / Profile preview
BlackRock Capital Investment Corporation was a publicly traded business development company that provided debt and equity financing to middle-market companies across the capital structure, including senior secured, junior secured, unsecured and subordinated loans, as well as equity securities. The company was externally managed by BlackRock Advisors LLC, a subsidiary of BlackRock, and operated as a non-diversified closed-end management investment company regulated as a BDC under the Investment Company Act of 1940. It was not a life sciences, biotech, pharma, or healthcare operating company, but rather a specialty finance vehicle.
