Blanca Pharmaceuticals was a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company focused on developing novel anti-infective therapies for hospital-acquired infections. The company's lead candidate, Ramoplanin, was an oral, non-absorbable glycolipodepsipeptide antibiotic investigated for the treatment of Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD) and the prevention of vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) colonization. Blanca aimed to address the growing medical need for treatments against multi-drug resistant pathogens. In 2011, the company was acquired by Nanotherapeutics, which took over the development of its infectious disease portfolio. The acquisition allowed for the continued clinical advancement of Ramoplanin, which had previously received Fast Track designation from the FDA.
