Blond McIndoe Centre

The Blond McIndoe Research Foundation was a pioneering UK-based research organization dedicated to advancing the science of reconstructive surgery and regenerative medicine. Founded in 1961 to continue the legacy of plastic surgery pioneer Sir Archibald McIndoe, the center focused on developing new treatments for burns, trauma, and disfigurement. Its research encompassed tissue engineering, wound healing, and skin replacement therapies, often utilizing adipose-derived stem cells. The foundation was historically linked to the "Guinea Pig Club" and operated from the Queen Victoria Hospital in East Grinstead. In 2020, the foundation merged with the Royal College of Surgeons of England to ensure the long-term sustainability of its research mission. The independent charity was officially dissolved in December 2021.
