The Blood and Tissue Bank of Asturias, officially known as the Centro Comunitario de Sangre y Tejidos de Asturias (CCSTA), is the central institution for blood and tissue management in the Asturias region of Spain. It is responsible for the collection, processing, testing, and distribution of blood components and human tissues to support clinical activities in both public and private hospitals. The center manages a wide range of biological materials, including red blood cells, plasma, platelets, musculoskeletal tissues, and corneas. Furthermore, it serves as a reference center for hematopoietic stem cell processing and cord blood banking. Operating under the Asturian Health Service (SESPA), the CCSTA ensures the safety and availability of life-saving biological products through rigorous quality control and donation advocacy.
