Blood Bank of Hawaii

Blood Bank of Hawaii is Hawaiʻi’s community blood center and a nonprofit healthcare organization that collects, processes, stores, and distributes blood and blood components for hospitals across the state. Founded in 1941, it operates donor centers, mobile blood drives, blood component processing, testing, and transfusion-related hospital services. The organization is FDA-regulated, AABB-accredited, and a member of America’s Blood Centers. BBH also maintains a major rare blood repository serving Hawaiʻi’s uniquely diverse population and supports emergency preparedness across the islands and parts of the Pacific. Its operations are service-oriented rather than drug-development focused, with commercial-stage delivery of blood products and related transfusion services.
