Canadian Blood Services is a national, not-for-profit charitable organization that manages the supply of blood, blood products, and stem cells for all Canadian provinces and territories except Quebec. Established in 1998 following the Krever Commission, it is regulated as a biologics manufacturer by Health Canada and serves as "Canada's Biological Lifeline." The organization operates an extensive network of donor centers, laboratories, and a national public cord blood bank, while also managing the national organ and tissue donation and transplantation system. In addition to its operational role, Canadian Blood Services conducts world-class research in transfusion medicine and cellular therapies to ensure the safety and efficacy of the national blood supply. It works closely with healthcare partners and provincial governments to provide life-essential products and services to patients across Canada.
