Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania

Blue Cross of Northeastern Pennsylvania (BCNEPA) was a private, non-profit health insurance provider headquartered in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. Founded in 1938, the company served approximately 550,000 members across 13 counties in the northeastern region of the state. It offered a comprehensive suite of health insurance products, including individual, group, and Medicare Advantage plans, as well as dental and vision coverage. In June 2015, BCNEPA merged with Highmark Inc., a major Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliate, to expand its resources and service capabilities. Following the merger, its operations and member base were integrated into Highmark's regional business structure.
