Blue Medical is a Dutch medical device company specializing in interventional cardiology and vascular treatments. Founded in 1998 and headquartered in Helmond, the company is a pioneer in drug-coated balloon (DCB) technology and offers a comprehensive portfolio of PTCA balloons, stents, and specialty catheters. Their products are designed to treat complex coronary and peripheral artery lesions by delivering anti-proliferative drugs like paclitaxel or sirolimus directly to the vessel wall to prevent neointimal hyperplasia and restenosis. In June 2023, Blue Medical was acquired by Translumina, a global interventional cardiovascular device company, to expand its presence in the high-growth DCB market.
