Bluefield Innovations

Bluefield Innovations is a collaborative partnership between Johns Hopkins University and Deerfield Management designed to accelerate the translation of academic research into commercial therapeutics. Established in 2017, the entity provides up to $65 million in funding and drug development expertise to support promising early-stage projects originating from Johns Hopkins. Bluefield focuses on a broad range of therapeutic areas, providing researchers with the resources necessary to advance discoveries through the pre-clinical stage. The partnership aims to bridge the 'valley of death' in drug development by combining world-class scientific innovation with institutional investment and operational support. Successful projects within the Bluefield portfolio may eventually be spun out into independent biotechnology companies or licensed to pharmaceutical partners.
