Bluegrass Family Health

Bluegrass Family Health was a health insurance and managed care provider headquartered in Lexington, Kentucky. Established in 1991 as a subsidiary of Baptist Health, the company provided a range of health benefit plans, including HMO and PPO options, to employers and individuals throughout Kentucky and parts of southern Indiana and Illinois. It leveraged the Baptist Health provider network to offer comprehensive medical coverage and administrative services. In late 2013, Humana Inc. reached an agreement to acquire the commercial business of Bluegrass Family Health, leading to the transition of its members to Humana's platforms and the eventual cessation of its independent operations.
