BlueWave Therapeutics

BlueWave Therapeutics was a clinical-stage biotechnology company based in Toronto, Canada, specializing in the development of small molecule oncology treatments. The company's primary focus was on its lead candidate, BWT-515, a first-in-class small molecule designed to induce the Kruppel-like factor 4 (KLF4) tumor suppressor protein. This mechanism aimed to treat hematologic malignancies, specifically acute myeloid leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes, as well as certain solid tumors. In July 2007, BlueWave was acquired by Lorus Therapeutics, which later rebranded as Aptose Biosciences. Following the acquisition, the lead program was advanced into clinical trials under the designation LOR-253.
