BMT (Bio-Medical Technologies) was a specialized biotechnology and medical device company focused on the development of advanced bone graft substitutes and orthopedic solutions. The company is best known for developing ChronOS, a synthetic beta-tricalcium phosphate (beta-TCP) bone graft substitute used to fill bone voids and promote natural bone healing. BMT's technology provided a scaffold for osteoconduction, allowing the patient's own bone to grow into the material while it was gradually resorbed. The company's innovations significantly impacted the fields of trauma surgery and spinal fusion by providing alternatives to autografting. BMT was eventually acquired by Synthes, which subsequently became part of the DePuy Synthes division of Johnson & Johnson.
