Company intelligence / Profile preview
Bonti was a private, clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing fast-acting botulinum neurotoxin serotype E programs for aesthetic and therapeutic applications. Its lead asset, EB-001, was being developed in differentiated formulations for aesthetic use in glabellar lines and scar reduction and for therapeutic use in pain-related indications. The company positioned its programs around a rapid onset of action and shorter duration of effect relative to established botulinum toxin type A products. In September 2018, Allergan agreed to acquire Bonti for an upfront payment of $195 million plus potential milestone payments, bringing Bonti’s neurotoxin pipeline into Allergan’s medical aesthetics franchise. The acquired program later continued under Allergan Aesthetics/AbbVie as trenibotulinumtoxinE.
