Company intelligence / Profile preview
Borean Pharma was a Danish biotechnology company focused on the development of novel therapeutic proteins using its proprietary trimerization technology. Founded as a spin-off from Aarhus University, the company specialized in creating covalently-linked trimeric fusion proteins that mimic the natural structure of TNF-family ligands to improve therapeutic efficacy. Its core technology, later branded as Trimer-Tag, was designed to overcome the stability and manufacturing challenges associated with trimeric biologics. Although the company was liquidated in 2011 due to financial constraints, its foundational intellectual property was subsequently acquired and became the core platform for Clover Biopharmaceuticals. During its operation, Borean Pharma was supported by leading Nordic venture capital firms and advanced several programs through pre-clinical development.
