Boston Medical Publishing was a medical education and publishing company founded in 1992 by Dr. Scott Plantz and Dr. Jonathan Adler. The company specialized in medical textbooks, board review materials, and licensing guides for healthcare professionals, most notably the "Pearls of Wisdom" series. In 1996, the company's principals developed the concept for eMedicine.com, an online medical knowledge base, which was initially launched through Boston Medical Publishing before being spun off as a separate entity in 1997. Boston Medical Publishing was acquired by McGraw-Hill in 2005, and its titles were integrated into McGraw-Hill's medical education portfolio. The company's legacy continues through its foundational role in the development of digital medical references and its widely used board review publications.
