BrainZ Instruments was a medical technology company specializing in the development of bedside brain monitoring systems for neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). The company's primary products, the BRM2 and BRM3 Brain Resource Monitors, provided continuous, real-time electroencephalography (EEG) monitoring to help clinicians detect seizures and assess brain health in critically ill infants. Utilizing amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG) technology, these devices allowed for simplified interpretation of brain activity by non-specialist staff. Founded as a spin-off from the University of Auckland's Liggins Institute, BrainZ focused on addressing the need for specialized neuro-diagnostic tools in the pediatric population. The company was acquired by Natus Medical in 2008 to enhance their portfolio of newborn care and neurology products.
