Company intelligence / Profile preview
Breeze Therapeutics was a clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing inhaled formulations of chemotherapy for the treatment of lung cancer. A spin-out from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the company developed a proprietary technology to deliver potent oncology drugs directly to the respiratory tract. Its lead candidate, Breeze-Cisplatin, aimed to maximize drug concentration in the lungs while minimizing the systemic toxicity typically associated with intravenous cisplatin. In March 2020, the company was acquired by Elevar Therapeutics, a subsidiary of HLB, which integrated the inhaled cisplatin program into its oncology portfolio. The acquisition allowed for the continued development of the platform to address unmet needs in non-small cell lung cancer and other respiratory malignancies.
