Broadpoint Capital was a prominent independent investment bank and equity research firm that specialized in the healthcare, technology, and energy sectors. Formerly known as First Albany Capital, the firm maintained a highly active Health Care Group that provided specialized investment banking, advisory, and research services to middle-market biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical technology companies. The firm was instrumental in financing numerous life science entities through initial public offerings, secondary offerings, and strategic M&A advisory during the 2000s. In 2009, its parent company, Broadpoint Securities Group, acquired Gleacher Partners and subsequently rebranded the combined organization as Gleacher & Company, leading to the retirement of the Broadpoint brand.
