Broken Arrow Nursery

Broken Arrow Nursery specializes in growing rare and unusual plants with a focus on native flora and herbaceous perennials. It operates retail nursery sales and mail order plant sales. The company also manages Christmas tree farming on over 20 acres of land. The nursery was founded in 1984 by Dick and Sally Jaynes building on Dick Jaynes’ prior research experience at the Connecticut Agricultural Experiment Station. It offers more than 1,500 different types of plants including Mountain Laurel (Kalmia latifolia), the state flower of Connecticut. The company propagates most of its own plants and operates two farmland locations in Hamden, Connecticut. Key personnel include founder Richard "Dick" Jaynes, General Manager Burton Jaynes (former Pfizer chemist), Sales Manager Rachel Conley, Production & Horticulture Manager Adam Wheeler among others.
