Company intelligence / Profile preview
Brookwood Pharmaceuticals was a specialty drug delivery company that specialized in the development of sustained-release injectable formulations. Spun out of the Southern Research Institute in 2005, the company utilized proprietary biodegradable polymer technologies to create microparticles and implants for the long-term delivery of small molecules and biologics. Their expertise spanned from initial formulation development to clinical-scale GMP manufacturing. The company's technology platform enabled the delivery of therapeutics over periods ranging from weeks to months, significantly improving patient compliance. In 2007, the company was acquired by SurModics, and its assets were later sold to Evonik Industries in 2011, where they continue to form the core of Evonik's parenteral drug delivery business.
