Company intelligence / Profile preview
Berlex was a major pharmaceutical company that operated as the U.S. subsidiary of the German firm Schering AG. The company was best known for its leadership in specialized therapeutic areas, particularly women's healthcare, diagnostic imaging, and oncology. Its most significant product was Betaseron (interferon beta-1b), which was the first disease-modifying therapy approved for the treatment of relapsing-remitting multiple sclerosis. Following the acquisition of Schering AG by Bayer in 2006, Berlex was integrated into Bayer's pharmaceutical operations, eventually becoming part of Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals.
