Butantan Foundation

The Butantan Foundation is a private, non-profit organization that serves as the industrial and administrative arm of the Instituto Butantan, one of the world's premier scientific centers. Based in São Paulo, Brazil, the foundation is the largest producer of vaccines and antivenoms in Latin America, supplying the majority of the immunobiologicals used in Brazil's National Immunization Program. Its portfolio includes widely used vaccines for influenza, hepatitis A, and HPV, as well as the CoronaVac COVID-19 vaccine produced in partnership with Sinovac. The foundation also manages a robust R&D pipeline focused on neglected tropical diseases, featuring a late-stage tetravalent dengue vaccine and treatments for Zika and Chikungunya.
