Cabrini Medical Center

Cabrini Medical Center was a prominent 475-bed acute care teaching hospital located in the Gramercy Park neighborhood of Manhattan, New York. Established by the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, the institution was named after Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, the first American citizen to be canonized. The hospital provided a comprehensive suite of medical services, including emergency medicine, oncology, and specialized care for HIV/AIDS patients. It served as a teaching affiliate for several major medical schools throughout its history, including New York Medical College and Mount Sinai. Due to mounting financial difficulties and state-mandated restructuring recommendations from the Berger Commission, the medical center ceased all operations in March 2008.
