Cadus Pharmaceuticals was a biotechnology company founded in 1992 that specialized in the discovery of novel therapeutics targeting G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). The company utilized a proprietary yeast-based screening platform to identify small molecule modulators of GPCRs, which are critical in a wide range of physiological processes. During its active years, Cadus established significant partnerships with major pharmaceutical firms like SmithKline Beecham and Bristol Myers Squibb. In the late 1990s, the company shifted its focus away from drug discovery, eventually selling its intellectual property and drug discovery assets to OSI Pharmaceuticals in 1999. The remaining entity, Cadus Corporation, transitioned into a holding company with interests in real estate and other non-biotech sectors.
