Company intelligence / Profile preview
Calabar Pharmaceutical Company (CalaPharm) is a pharmaceutical manufacturing company originally established as a public-private partnership (PPP) by the Cross River State Government in Nigeria. Located at the Ayade Industrial Boulevard in Calabar, the state-of-the-art facility was designed to produce essential medicines listed by the World Health Organization (WHO), with a primary focus on maternal and child health, anti-malarials, analgesics, and pediatric medications. In 2025, the facility was acquired under a 25-year concession PPP agreement by Carlos Pharmaceuticals, which rebranded and expanded operations to include the local production of antiretroviral (ARV) drugs to support HIV/AIDS treatment. The company operates with WHO-standard cleanroom systems and advanced manufacturing equipment to ensure the supply of affordable, high-quality medicines across Nigeria and neighboring West African regions.
