Calcitec

Calcitec was a French medical technology company specializing in the development and manufacture of synthetic bone substitutes and biomaterials. The company was a pioneer in the production of high-purity hydroxyapatite (HA) and other calcium phosphate-based materials used for bone grafting in orthopedic and dental applications. Its products were designed to provide a scaffold for new bone growth, offering an alternative to autografts and allografts. Calcitec's technology was highly regarded for its biocompatibility and osteoconductive properties. In 1997, the company was acquired by Wright Medical Technology, which utilized Calcitec's expertise to expand its portfolio of biologic products. Today, the legacy of Calcitec's technology resides within Stryker, following its acquisition of Wright Medical.
