Caliber Ophthalmics

Caliber Ophthalmics is an ophthalmic medical device business unit of Surgical Specialties focused on the design, manufacture, and marketing of ophthalmic knives, sutures, punctal plugs, and related microsurgical instruments. The business was launched in 2019 by combining Surgical Specialties' long-standing Sharpoint ophthalmic franchise with the acquired capabilities of Unique Technologies and VPM Surgical. Its products are sold commercially under brands including Sharpoint, Stylus, UniqueEdge, VPM, UltraGlide, and UltraPlug, and it also provides OEM manufacturing services for ophthalmic blade tips and finished devices. Caliber Ophthalmics operates a design and manufacturing center of excellence in Sinking Spring, Pennsylvania, with clean-room manufacturing and advanced blade-making capabilities, and uses proprietary non-grind blade technology marketed as Infinite Edge. The company is focused on ophthalmic procedure tools rather than drug development.
