California Telehealth and Telemedicine Center

The California Telehealth and Telemedicine Center (CTTC) was a non-profit organization established to facilitate the integration of telecommunications technology into the California healthcare system. Founded in 1997 with support from the California Health Care Foundation, the center focused on expanding access to care for rural and urban underserved populations through remote clinical consultations. It provided essential services including technical consultation, provider education, and analysis of legal and regulatory barriers to telehealth. The organization played a key role in developing the infrastructure that would eventually become the California Telehealth Network. Although the CTTC no longer operates under its original name, its mission persists through the California Telehealth Resource Center (CTRC), a federally funded entity. Today, the CTRC continues to provide unbiased expertise and support for telehealth implementation across the state.
