Calmic

Calmic was a prominent British pharmaceutical company based in Crewe, Cheshire, known for its development and manufacture of specialized medical products. The company gained significant recognition for its topical antibiotic treatments, such as Cicatrin and Polybactrin, as well as its iron supplement Ferro-Gradumet. Founded in the early 20th century, Calmic established a strong reputation in the UK healthcare market before being acquired by the Wellcome Foundation in 1966. Following the acquisition, its operations were integrated into the larger Wellcome organization, which eventually became part of GSK through subsequent mergers. Today, the Calmic brand name survives primarily in the hygiene services sector under Rentokil Initial, though its pharmaceutical legacy remains part of GSK's historical portfolio.
