Company intelligence / Profile preview
Calon Cardio-Technology was a UK medical device company based in Swansea, Wales, focused on implantable ventricular assist devices for patients with heart failure. Its lead product, the Calon MiniVAD, is a miniature implantable blood pump intended to support the failing left ventricle in advanced chronic heart failure, and the company also described earlier-stage concepts including MicroVAD and CathVAD. Calon positioned its technology around smaller form factor, less invasive implantation, improved blood handling, and lower-cost mechanical circulatory support relative to conventional LVAD systems. The company also partnered with Leviticus Cardio to test a fully implantable wireless energy configuration for MiniVAD. Although it had raised significant private funding and planned human trials, the company later entered administration and, by early 2026, was reported to be moving into liquidation.
