CalRx is a first-of-its-kind state-led pharmaceutical initiative established by the State of California to address the rising costs of essential medications. The program operates through public-private partnerships to manufacture and distribute high-quality, low-cost generic and biosimilar drugs directly to consumers. Its primary focus is the production of biosimilar insulin, aiming to provide the life-saving medication at a fraction of current market prices. Additionally, CalRx has expanded its portfolio to include the distribution of affordable naloxone to combat the opioid crisis. By leveraging state resources and strategic manufacturing agreements, CalRx seeks to disrupt traditional pharmaceutical pricing models and ensure equitable access to healthcare.
