The company's primary research centered on the development of selective peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPAR-gamma) modulators designed to treat type 2 diabetes with improved safety profiles compared to existing thiazolidinediones. Its lead candidate, CLX-0901, was investigated for its ability to improve insulin sensitivity without the common side effects of weight gain and fluid retention.
