Company intelligence / Profile preview
Capmark Financial Group was a major commercial real estate finance company that provided a wide range of financial services, including lending, investment management, and loan servicing. Originally formed as GMAC Commercial Mortgage, the company rebranded as Capmark in 2006 after being sold to a private equity consortium. While it maintained a significant healthcare finance division focused on senior housing and long-term care facilities, it was primarily a financial services firm rather than a life sciences or biotechnology company. The firm filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 2009 following the global financial crisis and subsequently liquidated or sold off its primary business units.
