Respicardia, originally founded as Cardiac Concepts, is a medical technology company that developed the first transvenous neurostimulation system for the treatment of central sleep apnea (CSA). The company's primary product, the remedē System, is an implantable device that stimulates the phrenic nerve to restore a natural breathing pattern during sleep. This therapy is specifically designed for adult patients with moderate to severe CSA, a condition often associated with heart failure. After rebranding to Respicardia in 2011, the company received FDA approval for the remedē System in 2017. In 2021, the company was acquired by ZOLL Medical Corporation, a leader in medical devices and software solutions. Today, the technology continues to be marketed under the ZOLL brand as a key component of their heart failure management portfolio.
