Company intelligence / Profile preview
CardioMag Imaging (CMI) was a medical technology company that developed non-invasive magnetocardiography (MCG) systems for the diagnosis of heart disease. The company's core technology utilized highly sensitive Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID) sensors to measure the magnetic fields produced by the heart's electrical activity. This diagnostic approach was designed to detect coronary artery disease and myocardial ischemia more accurately and faster than traditional methods like EKG or stress tests. CMI's systems received FDA clearance and were marketed for use in emergency rooms to quickly triage patients with chest pain. In 2012, the company was acquired by the German medical device firm BMDSys.
