Cardoz

Cardoz was a Swedish biotechnology company founded in 2004 as a spin-off from researchers at AstraZeneca and the Karolinska Institute. The company specialized in the development of new treatments for cardiovascular and inflammatory diseases, primarily utilizing a drug repurposing strategy to minimize development risk and time-to-market. Its lead candidate, CR002 (a proprietary formulation of tranilast), advanced into Phase 2 clinical trials for the prevention of vein graft failure and restenosis following vascular surgery. In 2006, Cardoz was acquired by Biolipox AB, a respiratory and inflammation-focused biotech firm, which was subsequently integrated into Orexo AB in 2007. The company's business model was notable for its virtual approach, focusing on lean operations and academic collaborations to drive its pipeline.
