Caret Group is a private healthcare holding company founded and chaired by Fred Hassan, a prominent pharmaceutical executive and former CEO of Schering-Plough and Pharmacia. The company specializes in the development and commercialization of innovative medical foods and non-prescription healthcare products that utilize advanced delivery technologies to improve patient outcomes. Its most significant success was the creation of IM HealthScience, which launched market-leading brands such as IBgard for Irritable Bowel Syndrome and FDgard for Functional Dyspepsia. These products utilize proprietary Site-Specific Targeting (SST) technology to deliver active ingredients directly to the affected areas of the gastrointestinal tract. In August 2020, Nestlé Health Science acquired the IM HealthScience business and its portfolio of brands from Caret Group. Following the divestiture, Caret Group continues to operate as a strategic vehicle for Hassan’s ongoing investments and leadership roles within the global life sciences and biotechnology sectors.
