CARGO’s lead asset firi-cel (firicabtagene autoleucel, CRG‑022) showed promising results in a Phase 1 study for LBCL patients who relapsed after CD19 CAR T therapy. A pivotal Phase 2 trial was ongoing as of late 2024 with interim data expected in the first half of 2025. However, as of March 2025, development efforts on pipeline assets including CRG‑023 and the allogeneic platform were suspended to preserve cash while seeking strategic alternatives.[6][7]

Peer-reviewed data from Stanford Medicine’s Phase 1 study demonstrated clinical activity for firi-cel in heavily pretreated LBCL patients.[7] The company had also advanced a tri-specific next-generation CAR T candidate into IND-enabling studies before suspending further development.[5]

As of early 2025, the company shifted focus away from R&D toward maximizing shareholder value via potential reverse merger or business combination due to strategic review outcomes.[6]
