Carney Hospital was a 159-bed community teaching hospital located in Dorchester, Massachusetts, that provided a comprehensive range of medical services to the Greater Boston area. Founded in 1863 as the first Catholic hospital in New England, it offered specialized care in areas such as emergency medicine, cardiology, oncology, and behavioral health. The hospital was a teaching affiliate of the Tufts University School of Medicine. In 2010, it was acquired by Steward Health Care System. Following the financial collapse and bankruptcy filing of Steward Health Care in 2024, Carney Hospital officially ceased operations and closed on August 31, 2024.
