Carolina Youth Development Center

Carolina Youth Development Center (CYDC) is a historic non-profit organization based in North Charleston, South Carolina, providing comprehensive support for children and families in the foster care system. Established in 1790 as the Charleston Orphan House, it has evolved into a modern provider of trauma-informed residential care, behavioral health services, and community-based outreach. The organization offers specialized programs including the Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Lowcountry and various educational initiatives. In 2023, CYDC merged with Windwood Family Services to form a larger entity, Expanding Tomorrow, aimed at enhancing the continuum of care for vulnerable youth. Their mission focuses on protecting children, empowering families, and preparing youth for adulthood through holistic interventions.
