Carolinas Heart Institute

Sanger Heart & Vascular Institute, formerly known as Carolinas Heart Institute, is a premier cardiovascular center within the Atrium Health network, providing comprehensive heart and vascular care across the Carolinas. The institute is renowned for its expertise in complex procedures, including heart transplants, ventricular assist device (VAD) implantations, and advanced robotic surgeries. In addition to clinical care, Sanger is a major site for cardiovascular research, participating in over 100 clinical trials annually to advance treatments for heart failure, structural heart disease, and electrophysiology. Following the merger of Atrium Health and Advocate Aurora Health, the institute is now part of Advocate Health, one of the largest nonprofit health systems in the United States.
