Cartesian Gridspeed was a New Zealand-based bioinformatics company that specialized in high-speed genomic search and pattern matching solutions. Founded in 2005 as a spin-off from Genesis Research and Development, the company developed the proprietary Slim Search (Sequence Location Indexer and Matcher) software. This technology claimed to perform genetic database searches up to 10,000 times faster than industry standards like BLAST, enabling industrial-strength genomic analysis on standard personal computers. The company was acquired by NetValue in 2006, and its technology was subsequently integrated into NetValue's high-performance computing offerings.
