Cascade LifeSciences, Inc. was a specialty pharmaceutical company based in Lake Forest, California, that focused on the development of complex respiratory and allergy products. The company was acquired by Mylan Inc. (now Viatris) in 2013 to serve as a cornerstone for Mylan's global respiratory franchise. Cascade's primary value was its proprietary dry powder inhaler (DPI) technology platform and its advanced pipeline of generic respiratory therapeutics. Its most significant program was a generic version of Advair Diskus (fluticasone propionate/salmeterol xinafoate), which was later commercialized as Wixela Inhub. The acquisition provided Mylan with the necessary formulation and device expertise to compete in the highly technical and regulated respiratory market.
