Company intelligence / Profile preview
Laboratoires Cassenne was a prominent French pharmaceutical company that operated as a key subsidiary of the Roussel Uclaf group. The company was primarily focused on the development and commercialization of small molecule therapeutics, with a strong presence in the rheumatology, respiratory, and anti-infective markets. Among its most notable products were the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug Surgam (tiaprofenic acid) and the macrolide antibiotic Rulid (roxithromycin). Following the acquisition of Roussel Uclaf by Hoechst AG in 1997, Cassenne was integrated into the entity that eventually became Sanofi. Today, the brand is considered a legacy part of Sanofi's historical portfolio in Europe.
