Company intelligence / Profile preview
Celator Pharmaceuticals was a biopharmaceutical company dedicated to transforming the treatment of cancer through the design and development of optimized combination therapies. The company utilized its proprietary CombiPlex platform to identify synergistic ratios of anti-cancer agents and encapsulate them within nano-scale delivery vehicles, such as liposomes, to maintain these ratios in patients. Its flagship product, Vyxeos (CPX-351), is a liposomal formulation of cytarabine and daunorubicin that became the first therapy to demonstrate a significant survival benefit in older patients with high-risk acute myeloid leukemia (AML). In 2016, following positive Phase 3 data, Celator was acquired by Jazz Pharmaceuticals for approximately $1.5 billion.
